Sahlman Seafoods of Nicaragua opened for business in 1996 at the shrimp farm in Isla Mangles Altos in the natural reserve Delta del Estero Real in Chinandega.

 

Our processing plant is located in El Viejo, Chinandega and started operating in 1998 under strict HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) compliance with a 120,000lb maximum daily capacity.

 

Sahlman Seafoods of Nicaragua is proud to be one of the founding members of the Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA), an organization that helps promote sustainable aquaculture around the world. We are also Award winners of Premio a la Excelencia, Produccion mas Limpia (PML). Sahlman Seafoods of Nicaragua is a pioneer in the shrimp industry, leading the way in environmental conservation by creating the first Enviromental Department within the industry. In March 2011 Sahlman Seafoods of Nicaragua was one of the first shrimp farms to receive the Best Practices in Aquaculture Certification from Mag For (Ministerio Agricola y Forestal). This certification is the result of Sahlman Seafoods’s responsible policies to produce the highest quality shrimp, marketable worldwide.
